Pond Preschool Theme

Friday, April 5, 2019

Now that spring is officially here, there are SO MANY fun themes we want to do! Both my kiddos love pond life, so we thought pond would be a fun theme to explore. These printable pages and activities come from my Pond Preschool Pack in my TPT shop.

Here is a peek inside the pack!

Frog Number Puzzles- Count the frogs on the ten frame. Match ten frame to the number.

Rhyming Wheels- Identify the pictures that rhyme with the center picture. Use a clothespin or counter to mark the rhyming pictures.

Jumping Frog Measurement- Measure how high each frog can jump with unifex cubes.

Counting Ducks-  Pick a counting card and count ducks into the pond.

Frog Shapes- Build each shape frog with play dough or Wikki Stix.

Build a Letter- Use loose parts, like gems or rocks to build each letter.

Fish Counting- Use goldfish crackers to count to 20!

Comparing Numbers- Use goldfish, rocks, ducks, or frogs to count each number. Compare numbers.

Frog Alphabet Match- We made a sensory tray with blue beans. Place the letter cards in the sensory bin. Pull out a card and cover that lily pad with a counter.

Fishing for Sounds- Go fishing! What does the picture show? Mark the beginning sound on the recording page.

Lily Pad Hop- Have your students, or toy frogs, hop along the lily pad alphabet.

Squish Bag- Squirt blue paint into a bag. Trace each letter for writing practice.

Frog Addition- Spin each spinner. Add the numbers together.

Color Match- Spin the spinner. Cover a fish with that same color.

I hope you all enjoy this theme as much as we have!

Pond Preschool Pack

Here are some other fun ideas we used with this theme!!

Pond Play Dough Tray- We made blue and green play dough and added in foam lily pads, ducks (from the Dollar Tree), rocks, frog figures, and gems!

I always love seeing their creativity with loose parts and play dough!

Pond Slime- We used blue glue to make this batch of slime and it was a HIT!

Pond Water Play- We used foam lily pads and I wrote a number on each one. Frogs, ducks, and blue water made this bin a lot of fun for my boys.

Here is a fun freebie for you!

Alphabet Match Freebie- Complete each puzzle by matching the uppercase and lowercase letters. Grab it HERE.
