Farm Preschool Theme

Both of my boys love farms, animals, and of course TRACTORS! This was a fun week of farm themed fun! The printables are from my Farm Pack in my TPT store. You can grab that here

I try to include a sensory bin each week, and this was an easy one! We used corn kernels in a large tote,  and threw in our tractors and  farm animal toys. Both boys (generally) do a nice job of keeping in all in the tote, but this is something we constantly practice.

Muddy Pigs- We covered our pigs with coffee grounds and uncovered the mystery letters with a paintbrush. (sight word pages are also included)

Pig Shapes- Have you ever used Wikki Stix? They are super neat! For this activity, Hayden traced each shape with the Wikki Stix. Manipulating the Wikki Stix is great for fine motor practice.

Beginning Sound Barns- Say each animal on the barn. Open up the barn and write the beginning sound.

Muddy Pig Painting- We mixed coffee grounds with glue to paint 'mud' on the pig.

Celery Science- We placed a celery stalk in different colors of water. After a day, my boys were amazed with the results.

Muddy Pig Sensory Play and Wash- Oobleck was a fun and MESSY sensory bin. Place a wash bin near by for an easy clean up.

Pig Letter Tracing- Trace each letter with dry erase marker.

Sheep Sticky Wall- I wrote sight words on the laminated sheep, then placed contact paper over top (sticky side out). My son read each sight word, and stuck a cotton ball on top!

Horse Letter Sort- Sort each letter.

Handwriting is not Hayden's favorite activity, so I like to get creative on how we can fit this in. For this writing practice activity he traced each letter on the pigs with 'mud' aka brown paint! I gave him a q-tip to use, and he LOVED this!

Magnetic Letter Match- We have a TON of farm animal magnets, so I thought they would be perfect for a learning activity. My little guy matched each farm magnet to its beginning sound.

Farm Number Tracing- Play dough counting mats are a fun way to practice counting AND fine motor skills. There is also a tracing number activity at the bottom of each card!

Counting Wool- Hayden worked on ordering the sheep by size, and then we estimated how many cotton balls would fit onto each sheep. Then, he filled each sheep with cotton balls, counting the totals.

Nest Subitizing- Sort each egg by number.

Silo Alphabet Clip- Clip the correct letter on the silo.

Roll and Sort- We made colorful fences with colored popsicle sticks. My son rolled the dice and counted farm animals into each fence. Then we counted and compared the amounts.

Animal Count and Stamp- I drew a few fences and wrote a number above each fence. Then my son stamped farm animals next to each fence.

Count and Trace Sensory Bin- We used corn as the base of the sensory bin. Pick a corn card and count the corn stalks. Trace the correct number on the recording page.

Chicken and Egg Name Craft - Write each child's name on the chicken. Practice writing their name on the eggs.

Hay Bale Roll and Cover- Roll and cover each hay bale.

Here is a activity to add to your dramatic play area! Rhyming eggs in the chicken coop! Just tape the rhyming pieces to the eggs, and have your farmers match the eggs that rhyme!
