The moment Grayson
turned one, he was suddenly a different child. All of a sudden there was SO
MUCH he could do, so much he wanted to explore, and so much I wanted to teach
him. I love used my teacher brain to come up with plans and activities for us
to do together. Big brother Hayden has been having fun with winter themed
learning activities, so I decided to create some winter activities for Grayson
too.
Grayson: 14 months old
Focus: color- blue, shape- circle
**Snowman Ball Sort- Grayson has been coming back to this
activity all week, it was a favorite. I used part of a box of diapers for the
backing, and then cut a large snowman from butcher paper. I made holes in the center,
and outlined them with red, yellow, and blue marker. I handed Grayson a basket
of balls, and he placed them through the holes. Over, and over, and over
again!!!! He is too young to match the colors correctly, but I did emphasis
what color the ball was, as he pushed it through.
**Blue Oil & Water Squish Bag- To explore the color blue,
I added vegetable oil, blue food coloring, and a tiny bit of water into a
ziplock bag. I sealed it VERY tight, and then taped it down to an activity
tray. Grayson loved to squish the blue dots, stomp them, even sit on them.
**Sticky Circle Collage- As I was cleaning out my craft
room, I found a stack of blue circles. Figured I could use them, before getting
rid of them. I cut out a piece of contact paper, and stuck it in a frame.
Grayson loved to put the circles on and off the sticky contact paper.
**Snowflake Hunt- I picked up some foam snowflakes at an
after Christmas sale, and drew circles and squares on them. I hid them around
the room (in very obvious places), and told Grayson to find the snowflakes. As he
brought them to me, I would tell him the shape on each snowflake.
**Coffee Creamer Push Snowman- This was his absolute favorite
activity of the week. I used an empty coffee creamer and drew a snowman on the
outside. I gave Grayson sparkley pom poms and had him push them through the
top. He LOVED doing this. Make sure to monitor closely if your child still
tries to eat everything!
**Sticky Snowman- Another activity using contact paper. I drew
a snowman on construction paper, and then covered with contact paper. I gave
Grayson blue tissue paper, and had him cover the snowman.
where do you get your sticky paper from?
ReplyDeleteHi! It is contact paper, and you can find it at Target or Walmart It is usually with the shelf liners! :)
