Pre-Writing Practice-- Tracing Lines

Pre-Writing is important to lay the groundwork for writing! Your child needs to practice various line strokes before they are ready to form letters. Tracing lines will help your child practice the left to right progression, proper pencil grip, and developing fine motor skills necessary to become strong writers.

Hayden loves to trace the lines with a dry erase marker! Another way we practice is by using loose parts! All those mini erasers from the Target Dollar Spot are PERFECT for activities like this!

You can use mini erasers, beads, or buttons to trace each line.

Rolling play dough snakes and covering each line is another fun way to use theses pre-writing lines!

How do you encourage writing for your children?
