I have been having fun making book companion packs to go along with some of our favorite stories. Here is the Creepy Carrot Book Companion. It is in my TPT shop!
One of the first activities we worked on was this orange carrot collage. We used orange paint samples, and Hayden cut them up. This was great for scissor practice. Grayson, who has a new found love of glue, glued the orange pieces on the triangle. Then, Hayden cut some green strips for the stem. I LOVE when they work together on a project!!!
Carrots are such a fun writing tool! I was planning on using a salt tray and a carrot for Hayden to practice letter formation, but he asked for paint! It worked perfectly!
Hayden worked on those fine motor skills, and practiced counting with these counting cards.
I cut a small slit above each pot, and Hayden matched the uppercase and lowercase letters by 'planting' the carrots.
We LOVE name crafts. He wasn't in the mood to write his name, so he just ordered the carrots to spell his name, and placed them in the pouch.
This was a favorite. I made brown play dough for our dirt. Then, Hayden picked a pattern card. We used colorful carrots to create and extend patterns in the dirt.
Have you tried tin foil art? It is FUN!!!!! We have done shapes and names before, but this was super fun for this story. I drew carrots with a hot glue gun, onto a piece of cardboard. Once it was dry, I placed a piece of tin foil on top. Both boys pushed the foil down, to reveal the carrot shape. Then, they finger painted over top of the carrots!
Carrot Tracing- Practice those prewriting skills by tracing each line.
In addition, there are several print and go sheets! One is to practice the letter C sound, and the other is for handwriting practice!!
I hope you enjoy this pack as much as we did!
Again, this pack can be found in my TPT shop!
