Tot School Letter D is for Dinosaurs

Tuesday, September 4, 2018
This week in Tot School Grayson is learning all about DINOSAURS!

The letter focus is letter D, and reviewing A-C.
Colors: red, green, blue
Shapes: square, triangle, rectangle
Numbers: 1-6

These plans and printables come from my Tot School Pack in my TPT shop.

We love using painters tape for learning activities. I made a large letter D with tape, and Grayson stomped the dinosaurs around the letter D.

The color activity for this week was sorting red, blue, and green pom poms onto colored dinosaurs. You could also use dot markers for this!

We love kinetic sand! I placed the A-D printable underneath some kinetic sand. Grayson brushed away the sand to revel the letters. I added in our dinosaur figures for fun!

Next up we made a batch of salt dough. We made fossils in the salt dough by pressing in our letter beads and small dinosaur figures. Both of my boys loved this one!

No dinosaur unit is complete without fizzing dinosaur eggs. Again, I used our letter beads and small dinos. I covered them in a mixture of baking soda and water. Grayson squirted vinegar on the eggs and the dinosaurs and letters 'hatched'.

Grayson used our small dinosaurs to paint the tracks on the letter D.

We sorted the dinosaurs big and small. You could also do by color or attribute (2 legs, 4 legs).

Hayden set up a small world for his dinosaurs with the top from our train table.

Both my boys love to move, so Grayson stomped along dinosaur tracks 1-6 and I helped him name the numbers and count.

For number recognition, we worked on clipping clothespins to numbers 1-6.
