Summer Preschool Theme

Monday, April 15, 2019
As you are nearing the end of the school year, this summer theme will be sure to add some fun to your last few days!
These activities are from my Summer Preschool Pack in my TPT shop.

Flip and Cover Watermelon- This activity comes in color and b&w which gives you a TON of options! Flip over a letter card and mark the picture with that beginning sound. You can use pom poms, dot stickers, dot markers, or counters.

Surfing for Sounds- This letter/sound sorting activity can be done several ways. Simply match the surf boards to the letter sand. OR place it in kinetic sand or play doh to have the surfboards stand up!

Sandcastle Counting- We love kinetic sand, so we placed the counting cards in a sensory tray. Pull out a sandcastle and count the windows. Trace the number on the recording page.

Summer Fine Motor Eraser Save- Use tongs to save the mini erasers from the shaving cream!

Counting Sunrays - Pick a number card. Count that many sunrays (pipe cleaners) onto the sun.

Watermelon Name Craft- Write each child's name on the watermelon. Have your student write their name on watermelon seeds. Cut and glue to spell each name.

Counting Seeds- Count black beans (seeds) onto each watermelon. These cards go from 1-20.

Crab Count and Clip- Use clothespins for fine motor practice as you count each group of crabs, and clip the correct number.

Counting Water Splashes- Use finger paint, ink, or dot markers to count water splashes onto each counting card.

Popsicle Comparing Numbers- Compare each ten frame. Which number is bigger? Place a counter on the bigger number.

Crab Number Line- Order the numbers to create a number line. Count objects (mini erasers, buttons) below each number.

Sunshine Read and Dot- This can be easily adapted for ANY skill your kids are working on. Read the word (shape/number/letter) and dot it with a dot marker.

Summer Sensory Bin- We made neon beans, threw in some cups and mini umbrellas and my boys had a blast with this bin!

Watermelon Writing Tray - Trace each letter in the writing tray.

Popsicle Match Up- Match each letter. Use linking shapes for additional fine motor practice.

Sunshine Clip- Write letters on clothespins and match them to the letter on each sun.

Number Order- Use dry erase marker to write in the missing numbers.

Flip and Draw Watermelon- Flip over a shape card, draw the shape on the

Syllable Sort- Count the syllables in each word. Sort under the correct number.

Summer Puzzles- Place the numbers in order to complete each puzzle.
