Dinosaur Preschool Theme
My boys and I love learning about dinosaurs, and have been looking forward to this theme.
The printables are all from my Dinosaur Preschool Pack on TPT.
Count and Clip - This is great for counting, number recognition, and fine motor. Identify the number on each dinosaur, then clip the correct number of spikes aka clothespins onto each dino!
Dinosaur Excavation- My boys love playing with water and ice. I froze small bones (got them from Michaels at Halloween time) and dinosaurs. They used liquid watercolors to excavate. This keeps my boys occupied FOREVER!!
Dino Rhymes- Target mini erasers make awesome counters for games like this. Pick a card, find the rhyme, and mark it with a counter.
Build a Letter - Build each letter with play dough, Wikki Stix, stickers, bones, mini erasers, or any loose parts you may have.
Dino Shapes - Identify and build each shape. You could also hide the shape cards around the room. Go on a shape hunt to find and identify each shape.
Syllable Stomp - Count the syllables in each picture. Place a counter or play dough ball over each footprint.
Dinosaur Sensory Play - Become a paleontologist and go on a dinosaur dig! We used kinetic sand for the base, and plenty of dinosaur figures! The dinosaur skeletons were found on Amazon.
Dinosaur Ten Frame - Pick a dinosaur number and count that many dinosaur figures onto the ten frame.
Counting Bones- Q-tips make great bones! Pick a number card and count bones onto each dinosaur.
Letter Match - For this activity, identify and match the letters. I love using the lacing alphabet beads from Learning Resources.
Dig and Find - Place small letters in a sensory bin. Dig and find each letter (we love using Learning Resources Lacing Alphabet). Place it on the alphabet mat.
Dinosaur Patterns - Use pom poms, or play dough balls, to create and extend patterned 'spikes' on the dinosaur.
Paint and Stomp - Dip dinosaurs in paint and stomp across the letter cards (sight word cards are included too)!
Salt Dough Fossils- We made salt dough by combining 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of salt. We rolled out the dough, and used a cookie cutter to form circles. Then my boys stamped various letters and dinosaurs. We let the dough dry, and then painted the 'fossils'.
We LOVE a themed name craft! Have your little ones practice writing their name, and cutting skills, while making this cute dinosaur!
There are so many more dino theme learning activities from my Dinosaur Preschool Pack on TPT.
