Nocturnal Animals Unit 


This unit of study is perfect for learning about nocturnal animals with your kindergarten or 1st grade class. There are science activities, color centers, writing, no prep pages, and reading comprehension graphic organizers. 













Bat Life Cycle-  Learn about the life cycle of a bat. Then, complete the accompanying worksheet.









Bats- Describe bats with a graphic organizer, and then label the bat.








Animals at Night- Read a reader about nocturnal animals. Then complete a nocturnal animal sort. 











Nocturnal Animal Writing- There are scrambled sentences, sentence starters, write the room, and a nonfiction book! 




Bat Writing
- After reading about bats, complete a bat themed flip book! 








Nocturnal Animals Write the Room- Hunt around the room for each word card. Then write it next to the matching picture. 








Coin Count and Cover- Count the coins on each playing card. Cover the correct amount on the playing mat.









Spin and Blend- Spin both spinners to make a word. Blend the word and write the word with dry erase marker.







Telling Time Around the Room -  Place the clock cards around the room. Have your students find each clock and write the time shown on the recording page. 









Flashlight Find-  Place the word cards around the room and turn off the lights. Use a flashlight to find and read each word. 






No Prep Pages - There are 10 nocturnal animal themed no prep pages.







Reading Comprehension- There are 6 reading comprehension graphic organizers with a nocturnal animals theme.
