We're Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger is the perfect fall book for your preschool students! Do your students LOVE hunting around the classroom as much as mine do? We love to get moving while we are learning!

After reading the story, have your students go on a leaf hunt around your classroom. Use die cut leaves and write numbers on each leaf. Find the leaves and match them to the correct tree. You can adapt this by using shapes, letters, numbers, colors or even sight words.

Have students lay the leaves onto the matching tree, or if you want students to work on a vertical surface, tape up the butcher paper trees to a wall and attach the leaves with Velcro dots or contact paper.

If you need an easy art activity to go along with this book, this is always one of my favorites for fall! Paint each child's hand brown for the tree. Then squish a craft tube until it looks like a leaf. Dip in paint and make leaf prints on your tree.
