Ice Cream Preschool Theme
There are 26 literacy, math, and writing activities for preschool, prek, and kindergarten students!
Fine Motor Color Match- Just use tongs or tweezers to match a button/pom pom to an ice cream scoop of the same color.
Comparing Numbers- Use dot markers, buttons, or pom poms to count and compare ice cream scoops.
Nonstandard Measurement- Measure the length of objects at the ice cream shop, using dot markers.
Simple Count and Dot
Stamp a Letter- Use alphabet stamps to match the letters on each cone.
Get up and moving with a shape hunt! Place the shape cones around the classroom. Trace each shape on the recording page, as it is found.
Sprinkle Sift- There are pages 1-10 or 1-20. Find each number, and mark it on the recording page.

Add beads onto play doh for this fun counting activity.
Ice Cream Patterns- Dip a cone into paint to create and extend patterns.
Q- Tip Painting Ice Cream Letters
Scooping Syllables- How many syllables are in each word? Smash a play doh ball for each syllable.

Here are some other fun activities for this theme!
Fizzy Ice Cream Cones- Add baking soda and liquid water colors to the cones. Pour in vinegar and watch the cones erupt!
Ice Cream Dough- We used a tub of frosting with powdered sugar (add until it isn't too sticky). The boys used our plastic cones from Lakeshore, and added sprinkles!
Ice Cream Sensory Play- Cotton balls were our ice cream and they scooped up some delicious treats!
Shaving Cream Cones- Shaving cream is always a hit! We added liquid watercolors and colored salt to make our creations!
